COMMITTEES
Through his work Co-Chairing the Justice and Public Safety Appropriation Committee and being a member on the Agriculture/Environment/Natural Resources, Education/Higher Education, Judiciary II, Mental Health & Youth Services, Homeland Security, Transportation and ONE NC Committees Senator Snow works hard to provide highly effective justice system, responsible agency services for farmers, challenging yet affordable environment for our students, success for those needing mental health services, a safe home front to live in, an efficient transportation system, and a robust economy that inspires new forms of capital investment.


JUSTICE AND PUBLIC SAFETY
As Co-Chair of the Public Safety Committee in 2006, Senator Snow focused on increasing the well being of our communities and homes by working to provide new state of the art technology to law enforcement officers.

Protection from Sexual Predators
Senator Snow has worked to make sure that the Department of Corrections is equipped with a state of the art GPS tracking system that will monitor the location and movements of the most serious sexual predators. This technology will allow police to establish boundaries for these criminals, such as parks, schools, and playgrounds and will alert police when they are crossed.


Enhancing North Carolina’s Response
Senator Snow has helped lead the charge for North Carolina’s development of a state wide communications system to help law enforcement and emergency response personnel communicate efficiently as recommended by the 9/11 Commission.


AGRICULTURAL/ENVIRONMENT/NATURAL RESROUCES
Senator Snow is a member of the Agricultural Environment and Natural Resources Committee, which is responsible for protecting the State's natural environment, including its air, water and wildlife.

EDUCATION/HIGHER EDUCATION
As global competition increases the need to compete in a knowledge based economy becomes paramount. The Education/Higher Education committee has oversight of the State’s Education and Higher Education programs and policies.

JUDICIARY II
The Judiciary II committee is responsible for the review of proposed new laws that govern how the judiciary works and how people will be impacted by the new laws that are considered by the committee.

MENTAL HEALTH & YOUTH SERVICES
The Mental Health & Youth Services committee works to provide a framework for people with, or at risk of, mental illness, developmental disabilities and substance abuse problems. It works to provide families the necessary, prevention, intervention, treatment, services and support they need to live successfully.

HOMELAND SECURITY
With the need for more thorough security at our ports and with our driver licensing system the Homeland Security Committee carries out its oversight function to ensure that the public can carry on its business without fear from attack.

OPPORTUNITIES AND NEEDS FOR ECONOMIC GROWTH (ONE NC)
As the State’s economy grows and changes the Legislature must be sure to provide a business environment that is conducive to productive and beneficial growth throughout the State. The ONE NC committee ensures that the State is considering all of the available options that it has available to it.

TRANSPORTATION
An efficient transportation system can speed the flow of commerce. With the second highest number of paved roads in the nation the transportation committee ensures that all of these roads are well kept and properly augmented with other modes of transportation.
