Water and Sewer Improvements – Stimulus Money
State Treasurer Janet Cowell announced $19.3 million in federal economic
recovery funds for water and sewer improvements in Western North Carolina.
The funding is administered by the Department of Natural and Environmental
Resources through its Clean Water State Revolving Fund Program and its
Drinking Water State Revolving Fund Loan Program. These are interest-free
loans and only half the principal amount is repaid.

County Unemployment Rates
The North Carolina Employment Security Commission released the county
unemployment rates for May today. 82 counties in North Carolina saw
an increase in unemployment between April and May.
