Senator Snow has spent a lifetime working with law enforcement
to protect the public trust and to provide law enforcement the tools
they need to do their jobs effectively the very first time. In his
first term as a member of the Senate he has worked diligently to
expand the role Law Enforcement officers have in protecting citizens
from sexual predators, putting more Judges and District Attorneys
in courtrooms to make sure justice is dispensed quickly and fairly,
and ensuring that drug suppliers are given harsh penalties for poisoning
towns and communities.
Methamphetamine
After spending 30 years as a district court judge Senator Snow has
seen the devastating effects that drugs can have on individuals,
families, children, and communities. The most hazardous drug that
is invading the sanctity of our communities is Methamphetamine.
This drug, which can be cooked up almost anywhere using household
cleaners, is tearing towns and otherwise productive people apart.
Senator Snow has taken a vested interest in ending the production
of this illegal drug and the people who supply it. He championed
Senate
Bill 686 which did away with the producer’s
ability to buy the fundamental ingredients needed to produce methamphetamine.
He has also introduced legislation that will bring tougher penalties
upon those people that make and distribute methamphetamine through
Senate
Bill 1613.
Sexual Predators
Sexual crimes against society are some of the most horrendous that
occur. Senator Snow has worked to make families more secure with
electronic monitoring of the State’s most serious sex offenders.
Parents deserve the comfort of knowing who is interacting with
their children in both their schools and neighborhoods, this is
why Senator Snow co-sponsored Jessica’s
law. Jessica’s law puts greater restrictions
and reporting requirements on sexual offenders who have been paroled.
After raising four children along with his wife, Senator Snow knows
the peace of mind a parent has in knowing everyone in the community.
Clearing the Courts
A lack of judges and district attorneys can cause a great strain
on our legal system. Senator Snow, through his work as Co-Chair
of the Justice and Public Safety Committee, committed the State
to providing new assistant district attorneys and judges for courtrooms
throughout North Carolina.
